Using harsh soaps could be the cause of eczema, rather than just exacerbating the problem, say researchers at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children. Soap can strip natural oils from the skin, leaving it open to irritation and infection. Avoid the foaming agent sodium lauryl sulphate (in many soaps, bubble baths and detergents), which dries out skin.
Knowing that eczema may after all not be solely caused by over-sensitivity, allergies and the like, we should do our part to prevent it from reaching us and our loved ones. Make sure you read the ingredients of the products that you use and make sure you understand these ingredients. We can't feel safe with things we don't thoroughly understand, right? So let's all be wise and stop skimping on ourselves especially if it's our health at stake.
'Til next time, dearies. :)
